Christmas in July - Day 2

Welcome to Day 2 of Christmas in July featuring Seasonal Chums.   This stamp set features a snowman, reindeer and a pumpkin. One of the things that I like most about this set is that it includes a framelit to cut out the stamped images.  The other thing I like is that the image is 2 sided, so it makes a great tag for treats or a gift tag.   If you want just the front or back image, you can easily cut them apart and use either side.

What is your favorite image from the set?  I have a hard time choosing, but if I had to choose just one, snowmen do melt my heart.  Just look at his cute smile, and that fluffy little bunny peeking around from behind him is adorable.  You just can't go wrong with snowmen.  I am imagining the snowman tag tied around a mason jar this holiday season with some home made hot cocoa mix inside.  I think that would make a great gift for my neighbors or a teacher.

I know that it probably seems early for creating Christmas cards, but did you know that there are only 155 days until Christmas?   I don't like to make all of my Christmas cards the same.  Don't get me wrong, I do make a few of each card, but I like to have a variety.  How about you? Do you make all of your cards the same or do you create a variety as well?

Here's what I used to create my card:

  • Seasonal Chums stamp set (item #144948)
  • Stitched Framelits (item #145372)
  • Christmas Pines stamp set (item #142049)
  • Colored doilies (item #146935)
  • Seasonal Tags Framelits (item #144685)
  • Memento ink (item #132708)
  • stampin blends markers in suede (dark/light combo item #147273), Cherry Cobbler light (item #144576) petal pink light (item #146866) smoky slate light (item #145054)
  • Real Red Cotton ribbon (item #146925)
  • crumb cake cardstock (item #120953)
  • Whisper White cardstock (item #100730)
  • Under the Mistletoe designer series paper (item #146921)

How I created this card:

  • Cut a piece of crumb cake cardstock to 8 1/2" x 5 1/2".  Score at 4 1/4" and burnish with a bone folder.
  • Cut a piece of the Under the Mistletoe designer paper to 2" x 5 1/2".  Attach this piece to the bottom of the card base.
  • Wrap a piece of the Real Red cotton ribbon around the card front and tie in a knot..  Cut the end of the ribbon at an angle.
  • Cut an oval using the stitched framelits
  • Stamp the reindeer from the Seasonal Chums stamp set onto whisper white cardstock,  using memento ink.  Cut out using the Seasonal Tags framelits.  Color the Reindeer using the stampin blends marker colors listed above.
  • Stamp a greeting onto a piece of whisper white cardstock cut to 3/4" x 2 1/2". Cut a banner at the end of this piece after stamping the greeting.
  • Cut a colored doilie in half and attach to the oval with the white side facing the front of the card.
  • Attach the reindeer to the front of the oval as shown.  Attach the greeting underneath the reindeer as shown.
  • Attach the oval to the right side of the card as shown using dimensionals.
As you can see, this card would be easy to create several at one time.  And isn't this reindeer just adorable?  Later this week  I will be creating gift tags using this stamp set, so be sure to stop back.
