Wonderful Moments with Stampin' Up!

Happy Monday Stampers.  Today I am featuring the beautiful new set by Stampin' Up! called Wonderful Moments.  This set features so many beautiful stamps centered around women and the events we celebrate with them.  This stamp set is so versatile because it celebrates birthday, every kind of awesomeness, birth, engagement and wedding.   I'm sure you can understand when I say that this is a stamp set that I will hold onto forever.

I combined this stamp with a few other great products, although they are not pictured together in the new catalog.  The tufted embossing folder adds just the right amount of texture and creates a softer feel to any card.  And the Petal Promenade Designer Series paper is WOW!!!!  I will be featuring this paper over on my live facebook on Wednesday of this week at 4:00 p.m.  The feed will post here shortly after or you can view it live by heading over to my facebook group on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. by clicking HERE.  While you're there, don't forget to click follow so you never miss a post.

Wonderful Moments Stamp Set Item #147529 - photopolymer

Here are the products I used to create this card:

  • Wonderful Moments Photopolymer Stamp Set (item #147529)
  • Petal Promenade Designer Series Paper (item #146913)
  • Whisper White Cardstock (item #100730)
  • Basic Black Cardstock (item #121045)
  • Tufted Embossing Folder (item #146335)

  • Basic Rhinestones (item #144220)
  • Shimmery White Cardstock (item #101910)
  • Wink of Stella (item #141897)

Here's how I created this card:

  • Cut Whisper White cardstock to 8 1/2" x 5 1/2". Score at 4 1/4.  Fold in half and use a bone folder to burnish the crease
  • Cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock to 4" x 5 1/4".  Spritz cardstock with water and run through the Big Shot using the Tufted Embossing Folder. Attach this piece to the front of the card base.
  • Cut a piece of Petal Promenade Designer Series paper to 5 1/4" x 2" and attach to the front of the card as shown.
  • Cut a piece of basic black cardstock to 3 1/2" x 3 3/4".  Cut a piece of shimmer white cardstock to 3" x 3 1/2"
  • Stamp bridge  image onto shimmer white card piece cut to 3" x 3 1/2" using memento ink.  Stamp greeting as shown using memento ink.
  • Color bride using stampin' blends markers listed above.  Hair is colored with light and dark soft suede.  Skin and bouquet is colored using light petal pink.   Color select flowers in the bouquet using calypso coral light.
  • Attach the shimmer white card piece to the top of the basic black card piece.  Attach to the front of the card using dimensionals.
  • Place basic rhinestones onto the upper right corner as shown

I realize that we may not always need a bridal card, but when we do, wouldn't this be a great card to give?  And the rest of the set is perfect for lots of other occasions to celebrate women.

Christmas in July - Day 5

Today is the final day of Christmas in July.  I am already having so much fun creating Christmas crafts, and I can hardly wait to make more.  This week while creating, I have been listening to favorite Christmas songs from Burl Ives,  Brenda Lee and Bing Crosby.   This week has reminded me of a few Christmas memories from the past, like when I told my kids that Burl Ives was my grandpa.  I have always loved how jolly he is and his voice is very calming and joyful to me.  He's not really my grandpa, but I would have liked that I think.  I was also remembering when we were living in Franklin, Tennessee and my husband surprised me by taking me to see Brenda Lee in concert.  She really surprised me at how personable she is.  And she is quite the family person because I think half the audience was related to her and came to support her. And, of course, Brenda Lee's Rockin Around the Christmas tree always reminds me of the movie, Home Alone, which is one of my favorite Christmas movies.   Wonderful times for sure and I can't wait to make more.

The card I created today was inspired by a card created by the designers at  Stampin' Up! home office, and is featured in the current annual catalog.   I have used the Christmas Pines stamp set this week a few times because something about it just seems so nostalgic to me.  It reminds me of small town Christmas decorations, people greeting each other while doing their holiday shopping and looking outdoors through an iced glazed window.   It's peaceful.  The greetings included in the set just sum up all of the feelings of Christmas to me.  And the framelits coordinate perfectly with the stamp set to give all of your projects texture and depth.

Here are the products I used to create this card:

  • Sheet Music stamp set (item #143970
  • Christmas Pines Stamp Set (item #142049)
  • Pretty Pines Thinlit dies (item #141851)
  • 1/8" red ribbon (item #144631)
  • Real Red cardstock (item #102482)
  • Early Espresso cardstock (item #119686)
  • Crumb Cake cardstock (item #120953)

  • Gold Foil paper (item #132622)
  • Real Red Ink (item #147084)

  • Old Olive Ink (item #147090)
  • Sponge Dauber (item #133773)
  • Multipurpose Liquid Glue (item #110755)

Here is how I created the card:

  • Cut the crumb cake cardstock to 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" and score at 4 1/4".  Fold in half and burnish with a bone folder
  • Cut a piece of real red cardstock to 4" x 5 1/4" and attach to the front of the card base
  • Ink the Sheet Music stamp using Soft Suede Ink and stamp onto a piece of very vanilla cardstock cut to 3 3/4" x 5"
  • Stamp the greeting directly to the lower right corner using real red ink.
  • Ink the pine swag stamp using old olive ink and stamp as shown in the top left corner of the music sheet cardstock.  NOTE:  I used both swag stamps.  One has thinner needles and one has thick.  I layered them slightly.
  • Cut 2 pine swags using old olive cardstock and 2 pinecones using old espresso cardstock.  Cut 2 greenery pieces using the gold foil paper.  Attach these pieces as shown to the upper left corner
  • Tie a bow with the 1/8" red ribbon and attach at the top of the pinecones using a glue dot
I hope that you have enjoyed Christmas in July.  It won't be long and we will be back to creating Christmas crafts.  Enjoy the rest of your summer, and make good memories.

Christmas in July - Day 4

Today is Day 4 of Christmas in July and I am featuring the new Kraft Pillow Boxes.  These pillow boxes will hold a gift card, candy treats or even a small gift.  I created this one for Christmas using a few different Christmas items from the annual Stampin' Up! catalog.  These boxes can be decorated now and popped open to fill up with your gifts when you get ready to use them this holiday season.

Santa Tip of the Day:  Did you know that you can find out where Santa is any time throughout the year by visiting TrackingSanta.net? Personally,  I think it's good to know where Santa is at all times.

Here are the products I used to create my pillow box:

  • Snowflake Sentiments stamp set (item #144820)
  • Kraft Pillow Boxes (item #147018)
  • 1/4" double stitched ribbon (item #144117)
  • Stitched framelits (item #145372)
  • Pretty Pines Thinlits (item #141851)
  • Gold glimmer paper (146958)
  • Old Olive Cardstock (item #100702)
  • Shaded Spruce Cardstock (item #146981)
  • Cherry Cobbler cardstock (item #119685)
  • Cookie Cutter Builder (item 140396)

How I created the project:

  • Assemble the pillow box and wrap the double stitched ribbon around the box.  Tie a box on one end.
  • Cut a variety of the greenery pieces using the Pretty Pines Thinlits using gold, old olive and shaded spruce cardstock.
  • Cut a large oval from whisper white cardstock using the stitched framelit oval.
  • Stamp the greeting onto the oval using the Snowflake Sentiments stamp set and Cherry Cobbler ink
  • Attach this piece to the front of the pillow box using dimensionals.
  • Using liquid glue, attach the greenery pieces to the front of the box, fitting the pieces underneath the oval greeting.
  • Punch 2 small circles from cherry cobbler cardstock, using a small circle punch or by using the circle in the cookie cutter builder punch. Attach to the front of the card as shown.
I  hope you have enjoyed today's project.  Please come back tomorrow for the final Christmas in July project.   If you need supplies for this, or any other project, please visit my store by clicking HERE. Please use hostess code B9QH6ZEB at checkout to qualify for the July ordering special.  This special is good only until July 31, 2018.

Christmas In July - Day 3

Welcome to Day 3 of our celebration of Christmas in July.  Today I am creating tags for gifts, because we can never have enough tags. During the holidays, I use gift tags for baked goods, candy treats, bottles of wine and packaged gifts.  There's a homemade gift tag for everything!!!  I created these tags using the Seasonal Chums stamp set and coordinating framelits.  This is the same cute reindeer that I used for the card I created for Christmas in July - Day 2.

Fun fact about Christmas in July.  Did you know that during World War II, Christmas in July was used as a  way to promote an early Christmas mailing campaign for those serving overseas?

I like creating my own tags for Christmas gifts.  I know that I could easily go to the store and purchase a few packages of the stick on type, but making gift tags is actually fun and relaxing for me.  I like using up the small scrap pieces and arranging each piece in a way that makes them look festive and merry.  And during the holidays, I like to be all about festive and merry.

Here are the supplies I used to create the tags:

  • scallop tag topper (item #133324)
  • stitched framelits (item $145372)
  • under the mistletoe designer series paper (item #146921)
  • layering circles framelits (item #141705)
  • Seasonal chums stamp set (item #144948)
  • seasonal tags framelits (item #144685)
  • Cotton Ribbon - red (item #146925)
  • metallic edge ribbon (item #144213)
  • real red ink (item #147084)
  • rhinestones (item #144220)
  • real red cardstock (item #102482)
  • whisper white cardstock (item #100730)
  • crumb cake cardstock (item #120953)
  • pool party cardstock (item #122924)
  • stampin blends markers old olive dark (item #144573), cherry cobbler light (item #144576), suede light and dark (item #147273), daffodil delight dark (item #144585)
  • smokey slate light (item #145054), petal pink light (item $146866) pool party light (item#144594)

Tips for creating gift tags:

  • I created the tag bases by cutting a piece of cardstock to 2" x 4 1/4" and then I punched it with the scalloped tag topper.
  • designer paper strip for the center of the card is cut to 2" x 2" or 2" x 1 1/2".
  • Snowflakes and trees are cut from framelits found in the seasonal tags framelits
  • leave ribbon longer to tie directly to your package or adhere onto package using tape over the ribbon
If you need supplies for this, or any other project, please visit my store by clicking HERE.  Please use hostess code B9QH6ZEB at checkout to receive a free gift when you order at least $50.00 in merchandise.  Offer valid until July 31, 2018 only.

- receive a free pack of Kraft pillow boxes with a $50.00 order
-receive a free ink pad of your choice with a $75.00 order
-receive an embossing folder of your choice with a $100.00 order

I hope that you are enjoying our celebration of Christmas in July.  Stop back tomorrow for another fun Christmas project.

Happy Stamping,

Debbie

Christmas in July - Day 2

Welcome to Day 2 of Christmas in July featuring Seasonal Chums.   This stamp set features a snowman, reindeer and a pumpkin. One of the things that I like most about this set is that it includes a framelit to cut out the stamped images.  The other thing I like is that the image is 2 sided, so it makes a great tag for treats or a gift tag.   If you want just the front or back image, you can easily cut them apart and use either side.

What is your favorite image from the set?  I have a hard time choosing, but if I had to choose just one, snowmen do melt my heart.  Just look at his cute smile, and that fluffy little bunny peeking around from behind him is adorable.  You just can't go wrong with snowmen.  I am imagining the snowman tag tied around a mason jar this holiday season with some home made hot cocoa mix inside.  I think that would make a great gift for my neighbors or a teacher.

I know that it probably seems early for creating Christmas cards, but did you know that there are only 155 days until Christmas?   I don't like to make all of my Christmas cards the same.  Don't get me wrong, I do make a few of each card, but I like to have a variety.  How about you? Do you make all of your cards the same or do you create a variety as well?

Here's what I used to create my card:

  • Seasonal Chums stamp set (item #144948)
  • Stitched Framelits (item #145372)
  • Christmas Pines stamp set (item #142049)
  • Colored doilies (item #146935)
  • Seasonal Tags Framelits (item #144685)
  • Memento ink (item #132708)
  • stampin blends markers in suede (dark/light combo item #147273), Cherry Cobbler light (item #144576) petal pink light (item #146866) smoky slate light (item #145054)
  • Real Red Cotton ribbon (item #146925)
  • crumb cake cardstock (item #120953)
  • Whisper White cardstock (item #100730)
  • Under the Mistletoe designer series paper (item #146921)

How I created this card:

  • Cut a piece of crumb cake cardstock to 8 1/2" x 5 1/2".  Score at 4 1/4" and burnish with a bone folder.
  • Cut a piece of the Under the Mistletoe designer paper to 2" x 5 1/2".  Attach this piece to the bottom of the card base.
  • Wrap a piece of the Real Red cotton ribbon around the card front and tie in a knot..  Cut the end of the ribbon at an angle.
  • Cut an oval using the stitched framelits
  • Stamp the reindeer from the Seasonal Chums stamp set onto whisper white cardstock,  using memento ink.  Cut out using the Seasonal Tags framelits.  Color the Reindeer using the stampin blends marker colors listed above.
  • Stamp a greeting onto a piece of whisper white cardstock cut to 3/4" x 2 1/2". Cut a banner at the end of this piece after stamping the greeting.
  • Cut a colored doilie in half and attach to the oval with the white side facing the front of the card.
  • Attach the reindeer to the front of the oval as shown.  Attach the greeting underneath the reindeer as shown.
  • Attach the oval to the right side of the card as shown using dimensionals.
As you can see, this card would be easy to create several at one time.  And isn't this reindeer just adorable?  Later this week  I will be creating gift tags using this stamp set, so be sure to stop back.

Don't forget about my FREE gift offer to you with every qualifying purchase:

  • spend $50.00 and receive a free package of Kraft Pillow Boxes (10 count)
  • spend $75.00 and receive a free classic stampin ink pad of your choice

Christmas in July - Day 1

Welcome to Christmas in July here on my blog.  This week I will be sharing five Christmas project ideas with you to get a jump start on your holiday season.    It seems as though the holiday season gets busy very quickly, and this year I am planning to create as many items ahead of time as possible so  that I can enjoy a little more family and fun time.  I hope you will join me.

Over on my Facebook group this week I asked the question, where did Christmas in July originate?  I did a google search and I came up with lots of different answers including other countries who celebrate in July because this is the time of year that it is cold for them  and a celebration that began almost 100 years ago down south because celebrating Christmas any time of year is just fun.   No matter the reason it started, I think it is a great time to get a jump start on the holidays.

My friend Elaine shared that every July, her sister sends her a gift to celebrate Christmas in July.  I actually had no idea that people actually sent or gave gifts.  WOW!!!  I love this idea.  I told her I was going to start this tradition with my family next year, but then I wondered, why should I wait until next year?  In the spirit of Christmas and holiday gift giving,  I want to give you a gift for making a purchase from now until the end of July.

  • spend $50.00 and receive a free package of Kraft Pillow Boxes (10 count)
  • spend $75.00 and receive a free classic stampin ink pad of your choice
  • spend $100.00 and receive a free embossing folder of your choice

The first project I'm sharing with you today uses these pretty silver gable boxes. These boxes are also available in the annual catalog in white.   They are big enough to put a small gift in, or you could also put some yummy treats inside.  What would you put in yours?  Tea light candles, candies, homemade fudge?  I think these would be great to give to coworkers, friends and neighbors  to say "I'm thinking of you this Christmas season".   They would also be great to decorate for secret santa gifts.  The possibilities are endless.

Here are images of some of the items used for today's project:

Gable boxes

Under the Mistletoe Designer Series Paper

Pretty Pines Framelits

Christmas Pines Stamp Set

Here's what I used to create this project:

  • Christmas Pines stamp set (item #142049)
  • Pretty Pines framelits (item #141851)
  • Nature Sings stamp set (item #144406)
  • Under the mistletoe designer series paper (item #146921)
  • Mini Gable boxes (item #145568)
  • Early Espresso Cardstock (item #119686)
  • Old olive cardstock (item #100702)
  • Shaded Spruce Cardstock (item #146981)
  • Real Red cardstock (item #102482)
  • Red Rhinestones (item #146924)
  • Everyday Label punch (itgem #144668)
  • 1 3/4" circle punch (item #119850)
  • Tear & Tape or other strong adhesive

Here's how I created the project:

  • Assemble the box
  • Cut a strip of your choice of designer series paper to 2" x 12".  Attach Tear & Tape to the box along the top and bottom edges, as shown below.  Once the tear & tape is attached, remove backing and carefully adhere the designer paper. There will be a small gap in the front where the 2 pieces meet.  The Everyday Label will cover this.

  • Stamp a greeting using real red ink.  I used the greeting from the Nature Sings stamp set. Punch out using the 1 3/4" circle punch.
  • Punch an Everyday Label using shaded spruce cardstock and adhere the circle in the center.  Attach this piece to the front of the box where the designer paper comes together, using a dimensional.   This will fill any gap between the two.
  • Cut pine sprigs, bows, greenery and pinecones using cardstock listed above.

  • Attach the greenery, pinecones and bows using liquid adhesive.
  • Attach 3 red rhinestones to the greeting circle as shown.

I hope that you have enjoyed today's Christmas project.  Stop back tomorrow to see what else I have been creating for Christmas in July.

Stampin' Up! Animal Outing

Take a Walk on The Wild Side

Have you seen this suite in the new Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog?  It's adorable.  At first glance, this might just be a set for children's cards, but I don't think so.  Who wouldn't love to get a card with a rhino, kangaroo or giraffe as the featured character?  This set would be great for scrapbooking a visit to the zoo, creating birthday cards or creating a zoo themed birthday party.  My niece recently had a baby and I am going to make her a new baby card with this set.

I have mentioned in the past that sometimes Stampin' Up! demonstrators share cards with each other.  My friend Sheryl Koenigsknecht actually created this card and shared it with me.  She also taught me an awesome tip that I'm going to share with you.  Take a look at the Animal Expedition Designer Series Paper that coordinates with the Animal Outing Bundle.

Did you notice that some of the animals face the left and some of them face the right?  The tip that Sheryl shared with me is going to allow us to cut both of those animals from one framelit.  That, by the way, only cuts rhinos that face the left.  This tip is for cutting the animal that would normally cut backwards when using the framelit.    Cut out a rough shape around the animal that you are wanting to cut out with the framelit.  Be sure to include enough  paper at the bottom as this will be crucial to lining the framelit up.  Place the framelit, with the cutting side up, onto the designer paper.  Once you have the framelit lined up, carefully cut the paper along the bottom of the framelit just enough to be able to line it back up once you flip it over.  I cut a little along the edge as well just to make sure I would line it up correctly.

You can see here that the framelit lines up properly to cut the image.  If the rhino was facing the other way, the framelit would not cut properly

Turn the framelit upside down.  See the cutting edge is facing upwards?  Use the framelit as a guide to cut the bottom edge as a guideline.  I also cut up the right edge slightly

See how the cutting edge of the framelit is facing up in the second image?  This is only to line it up and cut a line in the paper so that you have a guideline to cut it with the framelit once you flip it over. DO NOT run this through the big shot this way or your framelit will stick to the cutting plate.

The bottom edge is lined up.  See how I cut the left edge just to make sure I was lining up everywhere?

Once you have a guideline cut, flip the designer paper over and line up the framelit.  The cutting edge should now be facing down.  Run this through your Big Shot and tada!!!! you now have a rhino that faces left and right!! Genius, right?  This tip will make using this, and LOTS of other papers and framelits, so much easier.  Try it out on some of your other papers.

Here's what we used to create the card:

  • Animal Expedition Designer Series Paper (item #146902)
  • Animal Outing Bundle (item #148324)
  • Layered leaves embossing folder (item #143704)
  • whisper white cardstock (item #100730)
  • Mossy Meadow cardstock (item #133676)
  • Berry Burst cardstock (item #144243)
  • Stitched Framelits (item #145372)

Here's how we created the card:

  • Cut Berry Burst Cardstock to 5 1/2" x 8 1/2". Score at 4 1/4" and burnish with a bone folder.
  • Cut Berry Burst Cardstock to 4" x 5 1/4" and run through the Big Shot using the Layered Leaves embossing folder.  Attach this piece to the front of your card base
  • Cut a piece of Animal Expedition Designer Paper to 1 1/2" x 5 1/4".  Cut a banner on the right end. Attach to the front of the card as shown.
  • Cut a 2 3/4" x 2 3/4" square from Mossy Meadow cardstock
  • Cut a coordinating square using whisper white cardstock and the square stitched framelit
  • Cut the animal of your choice from the designer series paper.
  • Cut leaves using mossy meadow cardstock and the leaf framelit
  • Attach the zoo animal and leaves as shown.  Attach the white square to the top of the mossy meadow square.
Now all you need to do is add a sentiment inside, or your could stamp one underneath the rhino if you choose.  Put it into an envelope and mail it off!!!

I hope that you enjoyed today's tip from my friend, Sheryl.   Wasn't it a great one?

A Birthday Card for My Grandma

My Grandma's Birthday is just around the corner.  On July 30th, she is turning 98 years old.  Can you imagine all the changes my grandma has seen in the 98 years she has been alive?   Indoor plumbing, electrical lighting, television, cordless phones, cell phones and computers just to name a few.  She has survived the death of her husband, two of her children and lots of other friends and family over the years.  She is a special lady for sure and to say I feel grateful is an understatement.

I visited her recently and we talked about the many birds that visit her feeders on a daily basis.  She loves to watch the birds.   My aunt Becky said there are so many new birds this year that they had to buy a book just to identify them.  My grandma lives in a small town in "up north" Michigan and she is use to lots of people stopping by to visit, so she is always prepared to feed someone.  She gets slightly offended when we are not feeling hungry when we visit.  And if we do or don't eat, she's usually sending us home with some type of goodies.  This last time she sent me home with a jar of home made jam that she and my aunt had made the day before.  I can't wait to toast a muffin and spread it on top.  Yum!

For the last 3 years I have requested cards for my grandma to help celebrate her birthday since I have been out of state and haven't been able to celebrate with her.  She has gotten cards from all over the world including the United Kingdom, Canada and from all over the United States.  Again this year I have requested cards and lots of people have already promised to send her one.  I can't wait to see how many she gets.  Would you like to mail her one too?   If you would, I know she would definitely be so tickled to get one from you, too.  Here's her address:  Elizabeth Maneke, 10175 13 Mile Road, Mecosta, MI 49332.  Thank you in advance if you are going to mail her.  I will post pictures of her with her cards after her birthday celebration.

The card shown above is the card I made for her birthday this year.   I love the combination of the brand new gorgeous grape and granny apple green colors.

Here's what I used to make her card:

  • Abstract Impressions Bundle (item #148348)
  • Basic Jewels (item #144220)
  • Hyland Heather, Gorgeous grape and granny apple green ink
  • Petal Palette stamp set (item #145788)
  • Scalloped tag topper (item #133324)
  • brights 6x6 designer paper (item #146964)
  • gorgeous grape and whisper white cardstock

Here's how I created the card:

  • Cut highland heather cardstock to 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" and score at 4 1/4".  Fold in half and burnish with a bone folder
  • Cut a piece of whisper white to 4" x 5 1/4".
  • Stamp the greeting, using gorgeous grape ink, onto the lower right corner.  Attach this piece to the front of the card base
  • Cut a piece of the 6x6 designer paper (gorgeous grape polka dot)  to 3" x 3".
  • Cut a piece of gorgeous grape and a piece of whisper white cardstock to 3" x 3"
  • Cut a piece of whisper white cardstock to 2" x 4".  Punch the end using the scalloped tag topper.  Stamp the 2 step flower image onto the bottom of this piece using granny apple green, hyland heather and gorgeous grape ink.
Stagger the three 3" x 3" squares

Stamp the 2 step flowers using hyland heather and gorgeous grape ink. Stamp the leaves using granny apple green ink

  • attach the 3" x 3" gorgeous grape designer paper piece at an angle as shown.
  • Attach the 3" x 3" gorgeous grape cardstock piece at an angle, angling to the right
  • Attach the 3" x 3" whisper white square following the angle of the grape designer paper
  • Cut a piece of granny apple green cardstock AND a piece of granny apple green polka dot designer paper to 3/4" x 4".  Cut a banner in both ends.  Attach underneath the tag, staggering the two pieces.
  • Attach the scalloped tag to the left of the card making sure the greeting is showing
  • Cut a butterfly using the framelit and hyland heather cardstock.  Attach using a glue dot or liquid glue
