Stampin' Up! Flying Home

Spring is almost here.  For those of you recently hit by the big snow storm, I know you're probably thinking that spring cannot get here any too soon.  I'm thinking if we make enough spring cards and projects, maybe Mother Nature will take the hint and send spring our way.

Spring is one of my favorite times of the year.  I like being able to open the windows to get fresh air into the house after a long winter of being cooped up.  I like spring cleaning, the sun shining, thunderstorms,  spring flower bulbs blooming and the sound of the birds chirping.  Somehow it feels more like a spring renewal for my soul than a season.

Flying Home Stamp Set Item #145929

The card I created to show you today is called a Gate Fold.  It's a fun fold that adds a unique feel to a card.  It uses the same 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" card base, however, it is scored a little differently.

Here's what I used to create my card:

  • 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" Lemon Lime Twist card base scored at 2 1/8" and 6 3/8" and burnished with a bone folder
  • Bubbles and Fizz designer Paper (FREEE with a $50.00 order during Sale-a-Bration)
  • Layering Circles Framelits (item #141705)
  • Stitched Shapes Framelits (item #145372)
  • Classic Label Punch (item #141491)
  • Black Memento Ink (item #132708)
  • Silver Bakers Twine (item #145569)
  • Stampin' Blends Markers in Pool Party, daffodil delight, old olive light, calypso coral light and pink pirouette light
  • Tutti Frutti Adhesive Baked Sequins (item #145609)
  • Bermuda bay cardstock large enough to cut scalloped circle
  • Flying Home Stamp Set (item #145929)

Here's how I created my card:

  • Score lemon lime card base at 2 1/8" and 6 3/8" on the long edge.  Fold in and burnish using a bone folder.
  • Cut designer paper to 1 7/8" x 5 3/8".  Cut two pieces and place on the front of your card front.
  • Cut a circle using whisper white cardstock, from the stitched circle framelits (use the largest circle)
  • Cut a scalloped circle using Bermuda Bay cardstock, from the Layering Circle Framelits (use the largest scalloped circle)
  • Stamp the birdhouse image onto the whisper white circle using memento ink.  Color with stampin' blends markers.  Attach this piece to the front the of Bermuda Bay Scalloped circle.
  • This stamp set does not have sentiments.  I used the sentiment "thank you" from another set.  Stamp using Bermuda Bay ink and punch out using the Classic Label Punch..  Attach this piece to the bottom right corner of the card using dimensionals.
  • Place adhesive on 1/2 of the back of the scalloped bermuda bay circle.  (the left side ONLY.  As you are putting adhesive on the back, this will be your right)  Attach this piece to the front of the left side of your card as shown in the picture above.
  • Wrap a piece of the silver bakers twine around your card two times and tie a bow.
NOTE:  You could make this a birthday, thank you, thinking of you or whatever greeting you would like as long as the greeting fits onto the flap on the right side.

Now, write a note inside, sign your name, and send it off to someone who is not expecting a card from you, but you know they would be so excited to receive a card in the mail.   That's call a Random Act of Kindness, and it feels so good to make someone's day.  Who's day will you make today?

I hope that your Monday is beautiful and that I have helped to brighten the beginning of your week.

Happy Stamping,

Debbie
