Creating a troll with punches

My daughter, Emily, recently visited me and brought the new Troll movie with her.  It was a fun movie to watch.  I like to send my kids surprises in the mail and I thought what better surprise than to receive a handmade troll card in the mail, from your favorite mom,  along with a starbucks gift card so that she could try a unicorn drink that everyone is talking about.  Because unicorns and trolls go together, right?  This project took me much longer than I anticipated, but I am happy with the results, and hopefully she will enjoy it too.

Here's how to make the troll:

  • hair - frozen treats framelits (the cone), fussy cut bangs
  • head -  1 3/8" circle punch
  • ears - fox builder punch
  • flowers in the hair - tree builder punch
  • nose - owl builder punch (used the foot of the owl)
  • eyes - starting from the black that is directly attached to the face.  Black (cupcake builder), White (cupcake builder)  offset these from each other to create an eye liner, melon mambo (1/8" handheld punch), black (owl builder punch).  I used a black marker to draw the eyelashes and a chalk marker to create the white dot in the eye.
  • dress - I cut a rectangle from tempting turquoise and fussy cut to the dress shape
  • arms - 1"x1" square with corners rounded
  • hands - pyramid pals framelits (elephant nose)
  • flowers at the top of the card made with the pansy punch
  • leaves - Rose Garden framelits
I hope you enjoy this project.  If you need supplies for this, or any other project, I would love to be your demonstrator.  Contact me today or visit my store by clicking HERE.

Stampin' UP! Little Cuties

Have you seen the stamp set called "Little Cuties" in the current Stampin' Up! Occasions catalog?  It is a wonderful set that can be used for so many occasions.  Here it is:

Isn't it the sweetest?  You could create birthday cards, baby cards, friend and Easter cards.  I created this card today for my daughter's friend who will soon welcome a sweet little baby boy into her life.  She is a first time mom, but I know she will be awesome.  What I like about this set is that I could easily duplicate this card using yellow, light greens or pink depending on the gender of the baby.

Here's what you need to create this card:
  • pool party cardstock cut at 8 1/2" x 5 1/2"
  • pool party cardstock cut at 4" x 5 1/4"
  • whisper white cardstock cut at 3" x 3 1/2"
  • Cupcakes & carousels designer paper cut at 2" x 5 1/4" (item #142744)
  • Little cuties stamp set (item #142990)
  • lucky stars embossing folder (item #135817)
  • stitched ribbon (item #140569) bermuda bay

Here's how you create the card:

  • Fold 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" cardstock in half to create card base
  • run the 4" x 5 1/4"  piece of pool party through the big shot using the lucky stars embossing folder. Attach this piece to the front of the card base.
  • attach the 2" x 5 1/4" piece of designer paper to the middle of the embossed cardstock
  • stamp the rocking horse onto the 3" x 3 1/2" piece of whisper white cardstock using staz on ink.  Color the image using the aqua painter or water color pencils.
  • Turn the stamped image over and put a line of adhesive on the right edge of the card (this will be the left edge once you flip it back over).  Cut a piece of the bermuda bay ribbon and create loops, attaching it to the line of adhesive that you put on the right side.
  • Place dimensionals on the back of the white cardstock and attach to the front of the card as shown
  • attach 3 rhinestone jewels to the top right corner of the card
I hope you enjoy this card today.  If you need items to create this, or another project, I would love to be your demonstrator.  Please visit my store HERE

Do you remember standing on the sidewalk listening to the sound of the ice cream truck driving through the neighborhood?  What was your favorite treat?  My favorite was called a screwball.  Fruity iced goodness with a gumball at the bottom.

The Cool Treats Suite from the new Stampin' Up! Occasions catalog is one of my favorites, although I will admit I do have many favorites from this catalog.  The cool fruity colors of pool party, watermelon wonder and peekaboo peach scream cool summer fun.
